Ipswich — Laurel O. (Obeniski) King, 86, of Ipswich, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Seaview Retreat in Rowley. She was the widow of Peter F. King. Born in South Boston, on July 14, 1926 she was the daughter of Stephen and Mary (Krol) Obeniski.
She attended St. Mary’s School in Boston and graduated from South Boston High School. She began her working career at the Walworth Company in Boston. She moved to Presque Isle, Maine in 1968, where she worked as a bookkeeper at A.R. Gould Hospital and the Presque Isle Nursing Home. She returned to Massachusetts in 1985 and resided in Ipswich, until 2011. Laurel was an avid reader and also enjoyed knitting and quilting.
Laurel is survived by her children, a son Dr. Kevin King and his wife Dr. Christine King of Rockville, MD; three daughters, Carol and her husband Mark Gargan of Byfield, Paula King of Lisbon Falls, Maine and Diane King of Ipswich. She also leaves three grandchildren, Ryan, Patrick and Colleen Gargan, as well as several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, at the Star of the Sea Church, 28 Beach Road, Salisbury. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery, Ipswich.
