Salem — Dominic J. “Jersey” DeMartino, age 18, of Salem, formerly of New Jersey, died Thursday, October 18, from injuries sustained from a train accident.
Born in New Brunswick, N.J., he was raised and educated in Barnegat, N.J., until moving to Salem four years ago. Dominic was frequently seen around Salem and Beverly pursuing his passion for skateboarding. He was also an avid gardener.
He is survived by his mother, Robyn and his stepfather, Mike Mortola of Salem; his father, Brian DeMartino of Sayerville, N.J.; his brothers and sisters, Ryan Mortola of N.J., Kristine Mortola of Swampscott, Annie Mortola of Salem, and Jonathon James DeMartino of N.J. and a large extended family.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Friday, October 26, in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, corner of North St, Salem, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. to be followed by funeral services at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be private. Dominic’s family request that those who wish share indoor plants with his family to be used to establish family memorial gardens in Dominic’s honor.
