Peabody — Blanche D. (Mankus) Barton, 92, of Peabody, formerly of Beverly, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012, in the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, Burlington, following a brief illness. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Lester F. Barton with whom she shared 48 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Normont) Mankus and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Cambridge. Blanche met her husband in Boston while working at Sylvania and together they made their home in Beverly. Throughout her working career she was employed as a quality control inspector and retired from the Perkins Elmer Company from their optical technologies division.
Blanche and her husband, Lester traveled extensively during their retirement. They traveled to many countries around the globe and enjoyed having their many adventures together. Blanche loved her family and will be sadly missed.
Surviving her is her brother, Theodore J. Mankus of Holliston; a sister, Stephanie J. Healy of Cincinnati, Ohio; 14 nieces and nephews and 20 grandnieces and grandnephews. She was also the sister of the late Charles Mankus, Frank Mankus and Stella Kittredge.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Brooksby Village, Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody.
