Marian Dennis, 91


Marblehead, MA — Marian B. Dennis, age 91, of Marblehead, formerly of Nahant, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at her home, following a brief illness. She was the loving companion of Henry “Ben” Whitmore, and the daughter of the late George N. and Pearl L. (Strout) Dennis. Born and raised in Nahant, Marian lived most of her life in Nahant and Lynn before moving to Marblehead in 1997. She attended Nahant Junior High School, and graduated from Lynn Classical High School and Endicott College. She made her career as an executive assistant in the advertising, architecture and education industries. She worked for Hoag & Provandie Advertising Agency from 1960-1982, AICUM (Association of Independent Colleges & Universities in Massachusetts) from 1982-1998. Marian was a member of the Salem Country Club in Peabody for many years as well as the Eastern Yacht Club in Marblehead.

Besides her loving companion, Ben, of sixteen years, Marian is survived by her cousins, Terrence Murphy, MD, of Chestnut Hill, Gretchen Brien of Nahant, Susan Gauvin of Topsfield, Katherine Locke of Nahant and Karolyn Stritter Sikorski of Taunton. She was the sister of the late Alexenia Machesney and Barbara York.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held in the Ellingwood Chapel in Greenlawn Cemetery in Nahant on Wednesday at 11AM. Interment will be Greenlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4PM-7PM in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN & RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 67 Ocean Street (Rt1A), Lynn.
