Ruth I. Nicol, 97


Beverly — Mrs. Ruth I. Nicol, 97, passed away at the Blueberry Hill Health Care Center in Beverly. Born in Vanceboro, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Uriah and Mary Howland. She was the beloved wife of the late John M. Nicol. A registered nurse, Ruth graduated from the Lynn Hospital School of Nursing, and went on to work in several local hospitals, and later for the United Shoe Infirmary. She was also a member of the Diana Chapter of the Eastern Star in Beverly. Always helpful with the neighborhood kids, mending their scrapes, Ruth put others before herself. In addition to her husband, John, she was predeceased by her sons, William and John H. Nicol; her siblings, Dorothy, Kenneth, Althea, Harold, Lloyd, and Uriah Jr. She is survived by her sister, Jean Lawless of Maine; and her brother, Bruce Howland of New Hampshire; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral Services will be held at the Campbell-Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly, on Tuesday, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend, and may visit with her family prior to the service, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in North Beverly Cemetery.
