Thomas M. Higgins


Boxford — Mr. Thomas M. Higgins, 69, formerly of California, died on Sunday at his sister’s home after a brief illness.

Tom was born in Winthrop, and was the son of the late John J. and Helen M. (Miles) Higgins. He grew up in Lynn, graduated from St. Michael's School and Lynn Trade High School. He then received a degree in engineering from the University of Lowell.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He first worked for Stone and Webster in Boston. He moved to California and lived there for 30 years. He worked for the Department of Water Resources as an engineer.

He was the brother of Patricia Kearney of Salem and Marco Island, Fla., Christine M. Taillon and her husband, Michael, of Boxford, and John M. Higgins of Belgium. He was the uncle of Sharon M. Kearney of Salem, James Delorey of Westport, Conn., and Andrew Delorey of Londonderry, N.H.

ARRANGEMENTS: Tom’s Funeral will be from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, on Thursday, at 10 a.m. His Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Pius V Church at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
