Wilbur H. Farley, 88


Beverly, MA — Wilbur H. Farley, 88, beloved husband of the late Lois M. (Sherman) Farley, died on Friday, September 27, 2013, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his family.

Raised and educated in Beverly, he was the son of the late Arthur and Rita Farley. He graduated from Beverly High School in 1943, and continued his education at Northeastern University and Harvard University.

Mr. Farley had been employed for many years as an engineer at Harmonic Drive Systems in Peabody, until the time of his retirement. Prior to that, he had worked as an engineer at the United Shoe Machine Corporation. A highlight of his career was designing and developing the drive gear system for the NASA's "Lunar Rover” vehicle that traveled on the moon.

A longtime resident of the City of Beverly, he was a member of the Budleigh Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Beverly.

Surviving him are two sons, Peter Farley and his wife, Lynne, of Bradford, and Adam Farley and his wife, Monica, of Lunenburg; and four grandchildren, Craig, Scott, Chandler, and Mitchell Farley.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral services will be private. Arrangements by the Campbell–Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly.
