Ipswich — Anne M. (Merchut) Matous, 95, wife of the late William Matous, died Tuesday afternoon, October 1, 2013, in the Hathorne Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Danvers. Born in Ipswich on September 22, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Jan and Weronika (Dlugon) Merchut.
Mrs. Matous and her husband, William, were married on March 2, 1945, in Ipswich. They enjoyed many loving and happy years of marriage. She loved her family and her home and was happiest when her family was around her. Mrs. Matous loved gardening and baking, she was a very good cook. She was a loving mother and a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband on June 10, 1986.
Mrs. Matous is survived by her 2 daughters, Pam Morland of New London, NH and Julie Corsak of Brookfield, CT; her 5 grandchildren, Erik Morland of Rowley, Emily Curtis of Vale, CO, Matthew Corsak of Shelton, CT, David Corsak of Branford, CT and Samantha Colindres of New Fairfield, CT; her 4 great-grandchildren, Haley and Emma Morland of Rowley, Charles Corsak of Shelton, CT and Preston Colindres of New Fairfield, CT. Mrs. Matous is also survived by her sister, Milly Stamatakos of Ipswich and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 3 sisters, Antolina Hackwell, formerly of North Easton, MA, Winifred McParland, formerly of Ipswich and Felicia Taillon, also formerly of Ipswich.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held Monday, October 7th, at 1:00 P.M. at the Ascension Memorial Episcopal Church, 31 County Street, Ipswich, relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will follow in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Mrs. Matous’ name to: the Ascension Memorial Episcopal Church, 31 County Street, Ipswich, MA 01938.
