Peabody — Shirley O. (Ryder) Nelson, 93, of Peabody, died on Friday morning, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Donald Nelson. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary (Lufkin) Ryder.

She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School. Shirley was employed for many years as a sales clerk at the former Jordan Marsh Store in Peabody, before retiring.

She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Dorothy Nelson of Peabody, Roger and Marcia Nelson of Alton Bay, N.H., and Douglas and Jeanne Nelson of Peabody; her daughter and son-in-law, Selma and Robert Johanson of Boxford; her former daughter-in-law, Patricia Nelson of Peabody;10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.

ARRANGEMENTS: Following cremation, her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, at 11:30 a.m., at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
