Peabody — George S. Bento, 89, loving husband of Louise (Paulino) Bento of Peabody, died on Thursday, October 31, 2013, at the Rosewood Nursing & Rehab Center in Peabody.
George was born in Chicopee on February 20, 1924, son of the late Manuel and Julia (Espranca) Bento. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a lifelong resident of the city.
George was a part owner and operator at United Disposal in Peabody, a position he held until his retirement in 1989. He was a loving father who created a home for his family, and so proud of his grandchildren whom he cherished. In his youth and as a young man, he was an avid soccer player, enjoyed bowling at Sunnyside Bowling Lanes in Danvers. He was a longtime member of the Clube de Camoes in Peabody.
In addition to his wife, Louise, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage, he is survived by a son, George M. Bento and his wife, Kathy, of Ipswich; his grandchildren, Jessica, Rachel, Marylouise, George and Elizabethrose Bento; many loving nieces and nephews and his beloved feline, “Sadie.” He was predeceased by his son, Blaine A. Bento in 2010.
ARRANGEMENTS: His family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, November 3, 2013, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
