Joseph Edward Galipeau Sr., 87


Beverly — Joseph Edward Galipeau Sr., 87, passed away peacefully at Beverly Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 26, 1926, in Winchendon, MA, he was raised by Joseph Henry and Gertrude (Gavin) Galipeau. He served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Mt Olympus. After the War, he completed 2 expeditions to little America with Admiral Byrd.

He married the love of his life, Dorothy (Morneau) Galipeau on June 22, 1947. He worked at both Lawrence leather and Richard leather.

Mr. Galipeau was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Mary (Galipeau) O'Malley and his son, Joseph Edward Galipeau Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years; a brother, Warren Galipeau of Daytona, FL. Daughter, Anne Marie Baltoumas of York Beach, ME and Patricia Galipeau of Danvers. Grandchildren, Carol (Tom) Karvosky of Brookfield, CT; Amy (Jason) young of Bradford, MA; Jessica (Dan) Perry of Glens Falls, NY; Joseph Edward Galipeau III of MI; and Melissa (Mike) Giacobbe of Salem. Great-grandchildren, Brooke, Brady, Connor, Aidan, Abigail, Vincent and Caitlyn. Several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the CCU staff at Beverly Hospital for the exceptional care they provided in Joe's last days.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., North Beverly, Saturday, November 9 at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service on Saturday morning from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
