Old Orchard, ME — John B. Sullivan, aged 61, a longtime resident of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, died recently at Southern Maine Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was the son of the late Joseph A. Sullivan and Ruth M. Sullivan of Peabody, Mass., and Intervale, N.H. John was raised in Peabody and was a graduate of St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers, Mass. He attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. On one of his Antioch cooperative education work study assignments, John came to the Stone Environmental School in Ocean Park, Maine. He felt at home in Maine and never left the area. He worked at Shape, Inc. in Biddeford and Portland, Maine, and Lanco Assembly Systems in Westbrook, Maine. John loved country music and his 12 string guitar. John Prine, Emilylou Harris and Waylon Jennings were his all-time favorites. He is survived by two sisters, Dr. Jo Mary Sullivan, a retired educator of Lynn, Mass., Kathleen Sullivan Head and her husband, Norman Head of Bartlett, N.H.; two nephews, Colin Boyd of Peabody and Peter Boyd of Boston, and his friends at his favorite pubs.
