M. Virginia (Pothier) Vitale, 90

North Andover, MA — Mrs. M. Virginia (Pothier) Vitale, 90, of North Andover, formerly of Topsfield and Atkinson, N.H., beloved wife of 55 years of the late Hector Vitale died Thursday evening at the Edgewood Retirement Center in North Andover, following a brief illness surrounded by her family.

Born in Pawtucket, R.I., Ginny was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Catherine A. (Duffy) Pothier. She was raised and educated in Pawtucket, R.I. and continued her education graduating from Bryant College.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Ginny was dedicated to the church and her family. She volunteered much of her time to the church, served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a daily communicant at St. Rose of Lima. She also donated her time to many organizations and functions in her communities. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing bridge with friends and above all else treasured spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed.

Ginny is survived by her daughters, Kathy Vitale of Walpole, Meg Vitale and George Hall of Topsfield, Beth Ripp and her husband, Bob of Boxford, and Tina Strunk and her husband Steve of Topsfield, her sons, Ralph Vitale and his wife, Valerie of Boxford, and Tom Vitale and his wife, Susan of Cave Creek Ariz., her ten grandchildren, Matthew, Kate, and Brian Vitale, Benjamin amd Jacqueline Hall, Annie and Katherine Ripp, Emma Vitale and Alec and Harry Strunk; five great grandchildren; her sister Marion L. Pothier of Pawtucket, R.I., her brother Frank Pothier of Middleton; and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Mary Lou Vitale, and sister of the late Joseph Pothier.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral Mass which will be held in St Rose of Lima Church, Park St., Topsfield Tuesday, May 7 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield. As requested, visiting hours are omitted. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St. (Rte. 62), Danvers.
