BOCA RATON, Fla. — Michael W. Zappia, 54, of Boca Raton, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011.
Born Michael William Zappia to Dominic and Anita Zappia on Oct. 3, 1956, in Massena, N.Y., he attended high school in Peabody and Morristown, N.J. While studying at FAU, he was accepted into the Police Academy.
He was an officer for the City of Boca Raton from April, 1979 to November, 1999. He retired in the rank of sergeant. He is survived by his mother, brother, Roy, and his family, and sister, Cathy, and her family.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Memorial Mass was celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Ascension Catholic Church in Boca Raton. The celebration of Mike's life continued with the family from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Duffy's on St. Andrew's.
