Topsfield — F. John “Jack” McGann, 97, died Monday morning, June 3, 2013, at home in Topsfield following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Doris (Demars) (Bedell) McGann.
Born in Beverly on Nov. 29, 1915, he was the son of the late Andrew and Margaret (Naylor) McGann. He was raised and educated in Beverly Farms, and was a graduate of Beverly High School and Bentley College. A veteran of WWII, he served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Jack was employed in sales for the former United Shoe Machinery Corp in Beverly and Boyle Machine in Peabody.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Tedesco Country Club.
He is survived by his son, Kevin McGann of New Hampshire; his stepdaughters, Patricia Carroll and her husband, Stephen, of Topsfield; and Bonnie Foreman and her husband, Olin, of Conn.; his brother, Richard McGann; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a stepson, Thomas Bedell; and his brothers, Andrew, William, and Thomas McGann.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be Friday, June 7, 2013, at 10 a.m., in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Beverly Farms Cemetery, Beverly.
