Marblehead — Mrs. Mary J. (Cervoni) Spelta, age 95, of Marblehead, died unexpectedly at Salem Hospital on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. She was the wife of the late Gino Spelta.
Born and raised in Little Falls, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Giulio and Josephine (Eramo) Cervoni. She had lived in Swampscott and Marblehead for the majority of her life.
Mary had worked as a cashier for over thirty years, first at the PJ Blood Supermarket in Swampscott and then at the Stop and Shop in Vinnin Square; many years ago she had also worked at the GE West Lynn Plant. After her retirement, she had worked as a Teacher’s Aide at the Coffin School, Marblehead.
Mary was a very active resident at the Farrell Court Senior Housing complex, where she has resided for the past 25 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary is survived by a son Eugene G. Spelta and his wife Kathleen of Swampscott; a sister Julia Baughn of Salem; a sister-in-law Shirley Cerroni of Salem; two grandchildren, Amy Spelta, of San Diego, Calif., Gino Spelta and Beth Rigol, of Nahant; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Spelta, Danielle, Lindsey, and Kirsten Rigol, all of Nahant, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Tony and Leonard Cervoni.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held on Saturday at noon in the Solimine Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Rte. 1A), Lynn. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Saturday 9 a.m. to noon.
