Beverly — Edward J. Ramsdell, 78, died Saturday, February 16, 2013, at his home in Beverly. He was the very special friend of Rachel Gaudet.
Born in Beverly on May 5, 1934, he was the son of the late William S. and Margaret M. (McGrail) Ramsdell. He was a lifelong resident of Beverly and a graduate of the St. John’s Preparatory School, Class of 1953.
A U.S. Army veteran, Edward was honorably discharged in November of 1957. He was the Vice President and General Manager of Walker Associates and Osborne Associates in Boston for many years. Edward was also a member of the Ward II Civic Association, Cardinal’s Drum and Bugle Corps and he was very active at the Beverly Senior Center.
He is survived by his five children, Glenn Ramsdell and his wife Caroline of Sarasota, Fla., Brad Ramsdell and his wife Linda of Danvers, Alane Brown and her husband Darrin of Seabrook, N.H., Paul Ramsdell and his wife Sandra of Independence, Ky. and Patrick Ramsdell of Revere; nine grandchildren, Derek Johnson and his wife Cassandra, Taylor Brown, Dylan Ramsdell, Elizabeth Ramsdell, Eric Ramsdell, Joshua Ramsdell and his wife Jennifer, Haley Ramsdell, Jason Brown and Sariena Brown; eight great-grandchildren, Olivia Ramsdell, Eleanor Ramsdell, Gabriel Ramsdell, Jayden Jones-Ramsdell, Essie Ramsdell, Desmond Johnson and Tyler and Shawn Brown; his sister, Marilyn Crowley and her husband, John of Beverly; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends at Turtle Creek in Beverly. He was also preceded in death by his former spouse, Dorothy M. (Palardy) Ramsdell.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly, at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly, from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
