Col. Jules M. Seletz M.D., 81


Marblehead — Jules M. Seletz, of Marblehead, passed away on September 27, 2012, after an active life of 81 years. He was the devoted husband of Rilda with whom he shared 27 happy years of marriage. Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Abraham and Anne Seletz of Charleston, WV.

Jules graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1953. He then received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Chicago Medical School in 1958, graduating second in his class. After a distinguished 20 year career at the Newton Wellesley Hospital including serving as Chief of Surgery, he went on to serve as a Colonel in the US Army which included serving as Chief of the Department of Surgery at the 2nd General Hospital in Landstuhl, Germany, as well as at West Point. He served one year overseas in Operation Desert Storm. After retiring from the Army, Seletz went on to become a surveyor for JCAHO. He was also the author of fourteen novels.

In addition to his wife Rilda, Jules is survived by his former wife, Sukky Seletz; his three sons, Carl Seletz and his wife Susan of Columbus, OH; Jay Seletz and his wife Gayle of Framingham, MA; Andrew Seletz and his wife Kari of Roslindale, MA; daughter Sippy Olarsch of Andover, MA; Patricia Parker of Lincoln, NH; and Susan Parker of Marblehead, MA; and 12 grandchildren, Matthew and Max Olarsch; Nikki, Chloe, Isaac, Jacob, Ari and Asher Seletz; Jason, Bradley and Alyssa Isaacson and Dakota Smith.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held in the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead, on Monday, October 1, at 1PM. Interment to follow in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Visitation will begin at 12PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
