Edna Prescott (Rice) Tgettis, 86

Peabody — Edna Prescott (Rice) Tgettis, 86, of Peabody, formerly of Nahant, died peacefully in her home at Brooksby Village, following a lengthy illness. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Ernest; her parents, Harold and Christine Rice; and her brother, Edward.

She was the loving mother of Robert and wife, Lucinda, William, Donald, Richard, Nancy and husband, Brian; and dear grandmother of Courtney, Nathaniel, Michael, Lauren, David, Bella, and Yianna. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

After working at GE in Lynn as a mechanical design drafter, Edna married the love of her life, Ernie, and started a family. Self-employed as a seamstress, she took great pride in sewing and creating a wardrobe of original pieces. After years of raising a family and building a lifetime of memories in Nahant, the couple moved to Topsfield. For the next 11 years, they enjoyed their home, gardening, family, and friends.

Edna moved to Brooksby Village upon its opening, and she and others were proud to call themselves “pioneers,” as they were the first. She made lifelong friends who provided a wealth of shared experiences that brought a richness to everyone she knew, and took great pride in celebrating all of her family and friends successes.
