Concord, NH — Eleanor A. (Kelly) Sullivan, 95, of Concord, N.H., died on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Pleasant View Center, with her three children by her bedside.
Eleanor was born in Salem, Mass., on July 20, 1918, to James J. and Abbie E. (Donoghue) Kelly, both of whom had emigrated from Ireland. She graduated from Beverly High School in 1936, and from Salem Commercial School in 1937.
She married John T. Sullivan on July 2, 1950, in Beverly, Mass. They lived in Beverly until 1962, when they moved to Concord and made it their home. Eleanor and John had been married for 58 years at the time of his death in 2008.
Before moving to Concord, Eleanor worked for General Electric in Lynn, Mass., and for Dr. Anthony Maiuzzo in Beverly. She worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Concord, until she retired in 1983. Eleanor was a dedicated wife and mother, and a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Concord. Through the loss of her beloved husband, and the many years of declining health, Eleanor retained a wry wit and enjoyed connecting with people.
She is survived by her children, Nancy J. Sullivan and Paul A. Galloway of Windham, John M. and Rhoda M. Sullivan of Concord, and Jill M. Sullivan-Browne and Hugh H. Browne Jr., of Hanson, Mass.; and by her three grandchildren, Arlen S. Galloway of Boston, Massachusetts, Abbie E. Sullivan of Medford, Mass., and Avery S. Galloway of Windham. She leaves her sisters-in-law, Mary V. Kelly of Pepperell, Mass., and Claire B. Kelly of Brea, Calif.; her nieces, Mary Elizabeth Duhamel of Exeter, Robin Kelly McCann of Pepperell, Mass., and Diana Kelly of California; and her nephews, James Kelly of Nashua, Alan Kelly of Oregon, and Brian Kelly of Montana.
Eleanor was predeceased by her two brothers, Philip of Salem, Mass., and Edward of Brea, each of whom she cherished.
