Essex — William J. Shaw, age 72, of Essex, MA, passed away on Friday, March 28, following a short illness. He was in the loving care of his family in his final moments.
Bill was born in Revere, the first son of the late William A. and Rita (Lewis) Shaw. He grew up in Reading and was a graduate of Reading High School. He served honorably in the Army Reserve and National Guard.
Bill moved to Beverly following his marriage, and began raising a family. He also started a successful packaging business, Eggcrates Inc., which he ran for 22 years. He was involved in many civic activities, including the Beverly Rotary Club, and mentoring local students. He also enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, cooking, and meeting new people. He looked forward to his yearly trip to Jackson, Wyoming, to spend time with his brother, Peter.
In addition to his former wife, Norma, Bill is survived by his daughter, Lisa Harrison and her husband, Christopher; his son, Barret Shaw; and his brothers, Paul Shaw and Christopher Shaw. He is also survived by several cousins, a niece, two nephews, and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents; his former wife, Ann Mulry Shaw; and brother, Peter Shaw.
