Beverly — Wanda (Strojny) Dorosz, 95, wife of 69 years of the late Adolph (Al) Dorosz, died on Friday, August 16, at home after a brief illness. Born in Taunton, Mass., she was the daughter of Michael and Rosalie (Lozinski) Strojny. After graduating from Taunton High School and Bristol County Business School, Wanda was employed as a bookkeeper at several Taunton businesses. At the start of WWII, she and Al moved to Bridgeport, Conn., where Wanda worked as a records administrator and Al as an aircraft designer. In 1946, the couple built, by hand, a house in Beverly, where they raised sons, Edward and David. During her 67 years in Beverly, Wanda worked for 17 years as a cashier and office bookkeeper at Henry’s Market. Many patrons there became longtime friends, remembering Wanda’s friendly manner and willingness to solve any problem.
Wanda’s greatest achievement and the one she is most cherished for, was being a loving wife, a devoted mother to her sons, and a caring grandmother, always putting the needs of her family above her own. She was a founding member of St. John Evangelist Parish and served as a volunteer to various church and civic organizations. Wanda believed and lived her faith, always willing to help a neighbor whenever needed. As busy as she was attending to the needs of her family, she engaged in many hobbies such as creating needlepoint art, vegetable and flower gardening, cooking, and reading as an avid Bookmobile patron.
She is survived by sons, David of Beverly, Edward and wife, Suzanne, of Loudon, Tenn.; sister, Helen Salamon, of Taunton; brother, Edward and wife, Irene, of Lakeville, Mass.; grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer Dorosz of Denver, Colo., Lauren Dorosz of Boulder, Colo., and Kathryn Shroff of Tustin, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren.
