Beverly — Mr. John H. Nicol of Beverly, 62, passed away unexpectedly at home. Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of Ruth (Howland) Nicol and the late John M. Nicol. A graduate of Beverly High School, John was a retired patrolman with the Beverly Police Department, where he served for nearly 30 years. John’s real passion was cooking for friends and family. As a member of the Franco American Club and Essex Masonic Lodge, he spent many volunteer hours cooking and running the kitchens of both. He was a former member of the Scottish Rite and Aleppo Shriners. When not cooking, John enjoyed travel to New Hampshire with friends. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his aunt, Edythe N. Hayden of San Diego, Calif., and many local cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, William Nicol.
ARRANGEMENTS: A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 29, at 9:30 a.m., at the North Beverly Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
