Danvers — Rita (Bourgault) Brown, 90, of Danvers, arrived at her Eternal Home on Thursday, December 5, after a long journey. She was surrounded by loving family and friends.
Born in Salem, Rita was the daughter of the late Thomas and Alexina (Gaudreault) Bourgault. Rita was also the stepdaughter of the late Rose (Dube) Bourgault. Rita became deaf at 18 months, and lived with her family in Salem until moving to the New England Home for the Deaf 24 years ago. At her new home, Rita spread much love andjoy. There she found true love and married for the first time at the age of 69. The staff and residents at New England Home for the Deaf became Rita’s family as they extended love and care for each other.
Surviving Rita are her loving family at New England Home for the Deaf; her daughter-in-law, Ann and Charles Caron, Englewood, Fla.; grandchildren, Chuck and Taimi Caron, Westminster, Mass., Elizabeth (Caron) and Kumar Chinnaswamy, Groton, Mass.; brothers, Paul and Grace Bourgault, and Rene Bourgault, Leesburg, Fla.; sister-in-law, Roberta Whitaker-Bourgault, Peabody; and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by her husband, Richard Brown; brother, Leo Bourgault and his first wife, Therese (Gauthier) Bourgault; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Bourgault.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial Mass at St. Anne's Church, 290 Jefferson Avenue, Salem, on Tuesday, at 1 p.m., followed by graveside service at St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Rita’s biological family feel deeply blessed and grateful for the love and exceptional care the NEHD extended to Rita over the years.
