Lynn, MA — Audrey M. (Nye) Grieco Newman, age 77, of Lynn, died Wednesday Sept. 11, in Salem Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Donald Newman and former wife of the late Richard M. Grieco. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late George Houston and Eva (Norris) Nye. She was a longtime resident of Lynn and Marblehead, and was a graduate of Marblehead High School, class of 1954.
Audrey had worked for Marblehead Savings Bank and Eastern Bank for many years. She had also worked at Chiampa Dance Studio in Lynnfield. She had volunteered for the “Inn-Between” women’s shelter in Peabody, as well as My Brothers Table in Lynn. She was an avid reader, and was active in the Ocean Shore Apartment community.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Grieco of Marblehead; her step-sons, William Newman of Peabody, Andrew Newman of Chicago and Donald Newman of Florida; two sisters, Charlotte Simmons and Carlene Graham, as well as many nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat, Lambi. She was the mother of the late Richard S. Grieco and sister of the late Houston (Nye) Whitaker and Nancy Hardwick.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 2-6 p.m. in the Solimine, Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St., (Route 1A), Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be private.
