Ann E. Barnes, 90


Andover — Ann E. (Singleton) Barnes, age 90, wife of the late Robert E. Barnes, passed away September 27th at the Herrick House in Beverly, Mass., surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.

Born in Manchester-by-the-Sea, she was a graduate of Salem State College. Following graduation, she taught elementary school in Buzzards Bay and in later years Star of the Sea School in Marblehead. Ann and her husband Bob returned to Buzzards Bay to enjoy their retirement years, and later moved back to the North Shore to enjoy friends and family.

She is survived by her sisters, Sr. Helen St. Thomas of Wakefield and Constance Singleton of Beverly, a brother, John Singleton of Manchester-by-the-Sea; her children, Jean Nassar and her husband Samuel of Windham, N.H., Suzanne Corthel of Rowley, Robert Barnes of Peabody, Teresa Doucette and her husband Richard of Beverly, and Jack Barnes and his wife Nancy of Charlotte, Vt., 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch St., Beverly, Tuesday at 12 Noon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in the Rosedale Cemetery, Manchester-by-the-Sea.
