MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA — Dorothea Olivia (Callahan) Delaney, 91, beloved wife of the late Jack Delaney, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, October 9th at Ledgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Home. Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Augustine and Annie (Wiseman) Callahan. Dorothea was raised in Beverly Farms and was a graduate of Beverly High School. She also attended and graduated from the Hawthorne Institute of Salem.
A longtime resident of Manchester, Dorothea worked at Whiting Milk in Marblehead, where she met her husband Jack. For many years she volunteered her time at Beverly Hospital, then was employed at Cape Ann Savings Bank in Manchester as one of the first bank tellers. Dorothea also served as the assistant bank branch manager. After 22 years, Dorothea retired from Cape Ann Savings and enjoyed traveling with her husband.
She is survived by her grandsons, Jeffrey Delaney and his wife Maria and Kevin Delaney and his wife Shelley; four great-grandchildren, Meghan, Allie, Kaylee and Madison; daughter-in-law, Nancy Delaney, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Richard Delaney and her siblings, Gertrude Cronin, Helen Heagney, Genevive Lasky, Mary Callahan, Anna Callahan and Augustine Callahan Jr.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 62 School Street, Manchester on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell-Lee, Moody Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly on Monday from 4 to 7 P.M. Burial will be in Rosedale Extension Cemetery.
