Raleigh, N.C. — Pearl Dodge, age 89, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Duke Medical Center in Raleigh, N.C.
She was born June 19, 1924, in Stockton Springs, Maine. She married the love of her life in 1943 and enjoyed 67 years of marriage with Waldo E. Dodge and is survived by her son, Rhett Holden-Dodge of Amelia Island, Fla., and Pamela Dodge-Hendrickson of Raleigh, N.C. She also leaves a granddaughter, Lauren Wilhelm of Columbia, Ill., and three great-grandchildren.
She repaired airplanes while her husband was stationed in Carlsbad, N.M., during World War II and returned to Beverly, where she was active in civic activities as President of the Beverly Garden Club. She was an active member of The Church in the Cove.
She loved golf and was a member at Myopia in Hamilton and after retiring to Hilton Head, S.C., won three consecutive Lady's Championships at Bear Creek. She participated in and supported the National Bird Dog Championship held annually at the Ames Plantation, Grand Junction, Tenn., for 60 years.
ARRANGEMENTS: Burial will be in Beverly on November 1, 2013, with a 1 p.m. service at The Church in the Cove. Internment will immediately follow at the Central Cemetery in Beverly.
