Salem, MA — Eleanor L. Ambrose, 93, of Salem, passed away Sunday afternoon at Peabody Glen Nursing Home in Peabody.
Born in Salem, Eleanor was the daughter of the late James and Bridget (Barry) Ambrose. Miss Ambrose lived in Salem all of her life. She was educated in Salem Schools and worked for many years as the Bakery Manager for Stop & Shop in Salem until she retired at the age of 62. She had been a longtime daily communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Salem. She was a member of their Convent Guild and also loved to play Bingo at the church.
Surviving her are a niece, Maureen Hentosh and her husband, Jack of Salem; three nephews, James Irving and his wife, Elaine of Hampton, N.H., Barry Ambrose and his wife, Elizabeth of Peabody, and Jack Ambrose and his wife, Amanda of Boxford, Mass.; nine great-nieces and nephews and 23 great-great nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Eleanor is predeceased by her brothers, John and Robert Ambrose; her sister, Mary Irving; and her nephew, Bruce Irving Jr.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. (Route 1A/114), Salem, Wednesday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Salem at Noon.
