Maryellen Goodridge


Lynn, Peabody — Maryellen Edith Goodridge passed away peacefully at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Born March 16, 1949, in Salem, MA to the late Lester Elmer Goodridge, Sr. and the late Gertrude (Gardner) Goodridge. She was raised in Peabody, and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1967. She attended North Shore Community College, where she earned a bachelor's degree in journalism. She later earned a masters degree in communications from Suffolk University, Boston.

She had many career paths that included a professional dog groomer, owning her own shop in Peabody, and a free lance reporter and photographer for local newspapers including Salem Evening News, Daily Evening ltem, and Lynn Sunday Post. Most recently she was a teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Maryellen loved animals especially dogs and cats. She bred and showed Standard Poodles. She also bred and showed Siamese cats. She also adopted many pets from the humane society.

She is survived by her son Gregory Rieschick of Cambridge, a daughter Andrea (Sample) Spray, and grandchildren Justin Golden and Alicia Golden of Millington, MD; another granddaughter Emma Leigh Shannon; two brothers Lester Goodridge, Jr. and his wife Regina and Alan Goodridge and his wife Ann. She was predeceased by her daughter Alicia Ann (Rieschick) Shannon and brother Carl E. Goodridge.

ARRANGEMENTS: Following cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her Funeral Service on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Grace Church, 385 Essex St., Salem followed by urn burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
