PEABODY — Thelma May Silverman, 81, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Thursday in the Lahey Clinic in Peabody. Born in Boston, she graduated from Everett High School and attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She had resided in Peabody for 58 years. She co-owned, with her husband, Silverman's Men's Shop in Woburn. She was a member of the Salem State University Explorers Club, Hadassah, B'nai, B'rith and a former member of Temple Ner Tamid and its Sisterhood in Peabody. She was the beloved wife of William Silverman; devoted mother of Jo-Anne Gibely of Boxford, Richard Silverman of Ipswich, and Kenneth Silverman and his wife, Leah, of New York City; dear mother-in-law of the late Len Gibely and Robin Silverman; loving sister of Adele Goldstein of Brookline and the late Arnold Cohen; cherished grandmother of Heather Mathieson and her husband, Paul, Ally and Matthew Gibely, Haley, Jillian, Carly, Tara and Jasmine Silverman; and adored great-grandmother of Mason Mathieson.
ARRANGEMENTS: Services were held at Stanetky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin St., Salem on Sunday, August 18, at 10 a.m. Interment was in Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon.
