Beverly — Bridget Veronica (Webb) Cahill died on August 11, 2013, at the Ledgewood Rehabilitation Center in Beverly, Mass., following a lengthy illness, at the remarkable age 105 years. She was predeceased in 1974 by her loving husband, Daniel R. Cahill.
Betty, as she was commonly known to family and friends, was born on January 8, 1908, in Bonne Bay Newfoundland, to Henry and Mary Ann (Kennedy) Webb. She was one of 10 children, all of whom have predeceased her. Upon her arrival in the United States at the age of 23, she first joined her sister in Wakefield, Mass. Upon her marriage in 1946, she and her beloved Bob made their home in Peabody, Mass., where she was a daily communicant at St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Betty’s main interests centered around her home and husband, playing card games with friends, knitting and crocheting, and many church-related activities and Senior Center programs. She particularly looked forward to an annual visit from her nieces and nephews from Canada.
In Canada, she is survived by nieces, Susanna Lee, Anne McNeil, Mary Lee, Joan Penny; and nephews, Ignatius Lee, Henry Lee, James Lee, Aubrey Lee, Leo Lee, Lawrence Lee, and Henry Webb. She was predeceased by nephews, Peter Webb, formerly of Bonne Bay, Newfoundland, William H. Cullen Jr., formerly of South Hamilton, Mass., and Thomas J. Hemsworth, formerly of Wakefield, Mass.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be private. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Salem, Mass.
