Salem — Attorney Michael E. O’Brien, age 67, of Salem died Thursday, September 12, 2013, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers. Born in Salem, the son of the late Edward and Margaret (Ronaghan) O’Brien, he was educated in local schools, graduating from Salem High School in the Class of 1963. He then continued his education at Suffolk University, Class of 1968 and received his JD from Suffolk Law School, Class of 1970.
Mr. O’Brien then began a career spanning more than 42 years as an attorney in Salem. He was also elected to serve on the City of Salem School Committee, as a City of Salem City Councilor as well as City Solicitor.
Mr. O’Brien is survived by his sister, Maura O’Brien of Salem.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at 9:15 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem, to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. James Church, 156 Federal St., Salem. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
