Salem, MA — Robert McCutcheon Beatty, 78, of Salem, MA, died at Grosvenor Park Nursing Center Friday morning Nov. 9, 2012, in the company of his loving wife Kay (Claybaugh) Beatty.
Born in Madison, WI, Robert was the son of the late Arthur Hamilton McCutcheon Beatty and Gwenydd (Chewett) Beatty. Robert lived in Cleveland, OH, for sixty years before moving to Salem, MA, twelve years ago. A U.S. Navy officer, Robert served his country in active duty before transferring to a reserve unit for another six years. Robert was a Dartmouth College graduate, Class of 1956, where he was the president of his Fraternity. Following Dartmouth, Robert earned an MBA at Case Western Reserve University. He worked as a CPA his entire career. For years Mr. Beatty was the Comptroller for Old Neighborhood Foods and later in his life enjoyed working as an Accounting Professor at Salem State University from 2003-2010. Robert was also elected to Financial Director of Mayfield Village while living in Ohio.
Along with his wife Kay, Robert is survived by two sons; Scott McCutcheon Beatty and his wife Deborah of Swampscott, MA, Todd McFarlane Beatty of Marblehead, MA, four grandchildren; Tucker Hamilton Beatty, Elizabeth Grace Beatty, Sara Anne Beatty, and Lauren Gwen Beatty, two brothers; Arthur James Beatty and his wife Linda of Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada, and Richard Hamilton Beatty of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, a nephew Douglas and nieces Alice and Elizabeth.
