Lawrence Litman


Swampscott — LITMAN, LAWRENCE – Swampscott, passed away on November 16, 2012, at the age of 84. Born in Salem, Massachusetts, on September 15, 1928, he was the son of the late David and Molly (Scheft) Litman.

Lawrence attended the local Salem Schools and later went on to earn his college degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. In 1957, he met his late wife Marianne on Fisherman’s Beach, the same day she arrived from Germany to the United States. They were blessed to have shared 51 years together before her passing in 2008.

Mr. Litman was the owner of Lion Auto Parts in Peabody for over 43 years. He was a well respected businessman who was extremely active in the community. Lawrence was also an accomplished athlete and could be found at Boston Sports Club in Lynnfield every day on the treadmill and in the weight room. Even through his 10 year battle with cancer he stayed positive and enjoyed nothing more than staying healthy and fit. Mr. Litman loved cars and boats; he was an avid boater and skier.

Beloved husband of the late Marianne (Finke) Litman. Devoted father of Heidi Litman Mahoney and her husband Tom of Atkinson, NH, and Jackie Anzalone of Worcester. Loving brother of Nancy Sogoloff of Danvers. Cherished Grandfather of Brooke Mahoney and Max Pyle.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Service will be held at the Stanetsky–Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin St, SALEM, on Tuesday, November 20th, 2012, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Temple Emanu-El Memorial Park, Danvers. Memorial Observance will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Lawrence to Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center, 102 Endicott St, Danvers, MA 01923.
