Martha C. (Laxton) Tanch


Lynn — Martha C. (Laxton) Tanch, age 91, of Lynn, died Sunday, at Atlantic Rest Home in Lynn. She was the wife of the late Walter M. Tanch. Born in Swampscott, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Margaretta (Curtis) Laxton. She lived in Swampscott for the greater part of her life.

A homemaker, Martha was a member of the First Church in Swampscott, Congregational. She also enjoyed dancing and walking, and was often seen walking the beach.

She is survived by her three daughters, Sheryl Mason and her husband, Robert of Lexington, Linda Perry and her late husband, Thomas of Salem and Zephyrhills, Fla., and Gail Sullivan and her longtime companion, Richard Buchanan of Salem; two sons, David Tanch of California, and Robert Tanch of California; her sister, Connie Krupski and her husband, Paul of Maine; her brother, Ira Laxton of Swampscott; as well as nine grandchildren, Robert and Ricki Mason, Barbara Kossowan and her husband, William, William Perry and his companion, Kristi Thompson, Bailey and Dylan Tanch, and John, Charles, and Matthew Sullivan; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Barbara Meade and Ann Nestor.

ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Harmony Grove Cemetery, 30 Grove St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
