Beverly — Earl W. Perkins, the beloved husband of the late Alexandra (Urban), passed away peacefully at Kaplan House after a brief illness.
Son of the late Herbert and Bessie Tucker, Earl was born and raised in Beverly, attended school here and was a graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1933. He was a talented machinist, employed for many years by Sylvania in Salem, Ipswich, and Exeter. A member of Sylvania’s Quarter Century Club, he also belonged to the Grange, the Elks, and the Danvers Fish & Game Club.
Earl was an avid gardener, growing a variety of vegetables in the back yard, and his wife canned them all after the summer harvest. His many activities included mountain climbing, skiing, hunting, fishing, working on cars and various crafts. He loved “tinkering with things” and had the ability to complete any project he started, no matter how difficult.
One of the highlights of his life was dancing with his beloved wife, in fact, that was how they met. Dancing led to love, and that love led to his three beautiful daughters that he adored.
Earl is survived by his three daughters, Sandra Gourdeau and husband, Mike of Carson City, Nev., Susan Perkins and companion, Bob Riley of Ipswich and Nancie Heger and husband, Richard of Beverly; four grandchildren include, Leala Harwood of Linden, Utah, William Venezia of Salem, Nicholas Heger of Providence, R.I., and Janessa Heger-Ewart of Georgetown; six great-grandchildren, Danielle, Gianna, Haley, McKayla, Johnny and Camden; one great-great-grandchild, Cheyenne, and his niece, Bonnie Randall. Earl was predeceased by his granddaughter, Cindy L. Phillips; his sister, Eileen Gibson; and nephew, Bruce Gibson.
