Salem, Mass. — Johann W. (Walker) Barnett, 83, of Salem, Mass., and a longtime resident of Lawrence died on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Peabody Glen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Peabody.
Mrs. Barnett was born, raised and educated in Lawrence. She lived in Lawrence until 2002 when she moved to Salem, Mass., to be closer to her daughter, Alison.
Johann was employed by The IRS for over 33 years. She was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star, (O.E.S.) of Andover. She was also a member of South Congregational Church, Lawrence, as well as a member of The IRS retirees, Andover, and The Lawrence Senior Center. She enjoyed embroidery.
The widow of Robert P. Barnett, her family members include her daughter, Alison J. and her husband, Brian P. Thibodeau of Salem, Mass.; and her son, Ross P. and his wife, Lynne T. Barnett of Methuen. She leaves her grandchildren, Lawrence police officer, Daniel Smart, Matthew Smart, and Amanda Bontos; two great-grandchildren, Devon and Kieffer, Jr. Mrs. Barnett was the daughter of the late Bertram and Robina (Ross) Walker and was predeceased by her daughter, Roberta Smart and her brother and sister-in-law, Bertram G. and Betty Walker.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be on Tuesday, December 11, from 9 to 11 a.m. at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence.
