Louis Lester Davarich, Jr. of Reading died Feb. 23, 2012 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington after a brief illness.
He was 86 years of age. Born in Bridgeport Connecticut on December 13, 1925, he was the son of Louis L. and Alice (Burgess) Davarich. Louis had been a resident of Reading for 52 years. He worked as a Pressroom Foreman for the Murray Printing Company in Westford.
He retired in 1988. Louis had many hobbies and worked as a handyman in his free time, working for many people in Reading and surrounding towns. Louis enjoyed spending his time with his family vacationing and boating on Lake Winnisquam in New Hampshire.
Louis proudly served his country during World War II and was honorably discharged from the US Navy, Motor Machinist Mate Second Class. He was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, American Area Medal (3 Stars) African European Middle Eastern Medal (1 star) and the Asiatic Pacific Medal.
Louis was the beloved husband of Joyce E. (Boutwell) Davarich. Devoted father of Deborah L. Andresen and her husband Robert of Westford; Craig L. Davarich and his wife Eileen of Peabody and Scott Davarich and his wife Linda of Reading.
Cherished brother of Frank Davarich of Woburn and the late Jean Merrill. Loving grandfather of Craig, Amy, Sarah, Kristen, Stephen, Shane and Allison and great-grandfather of Hailey and Claire.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service with full military honors will be held Wednesday, Feb. 29, at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.), Reading at 7 PM. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 3-7 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Louis' memory to the Lahey Clinic Philanthropy Department 41 Mall Road, Burlington, MA 01805.
