Lynn — Mr. Emmanuel "George" Stephanos, age 90, of Lynn, died Tuesday morning in the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Norma A. (DuBois), with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn, George was the son of the late George and Bella (Pastou) Stephanos. He attended Lynn Schools and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School Class of 1942. He later attended the New England Barber School in Boston. George enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during World War II.
George was the owner and operator of George's Barber Shop on Boston Street for over 50 years. He was previously affiliated with St. George Greek Orthodox Church and was a member of Post #6 American Legion, Post #507 and the VFW Post of Saugus. He was an avid Boston sports fan and loved to attend his grandchildren's hockey games. George also loved fishing, exercising and animals.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, William C. Stephanos and his wife Claudia of Houston, TX, Robert G. Stephanos of West Palm Beach, FL, Kathryn F. Geary and her husband Michael of Danvers and Ann Marie Liberge and her husband Charles of Lynn. He was the grandfather of Anthony and Colleen Fava, Gregory, Jenna and Brooke Stephanos and Christopher and Robert Liberge. Great-grandfather to Alex, Kalianna and JJ. He also leaves his brother, Charles Stephanos and his wife Louise of Groveland. He was the brother of the late William Stephanos.
ARRANGEMENTS: George's Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Saturday at 10:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will be private. Visiting Hours Friday 4-8PM.
