Eleanor T. "Bubbles" (Cohane) Berry, 86

Salem — Mrs. Eleanor T. “Bubbles” (Cohane) Berry, 86, died on December 30, 2012, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. She was the wife of George N. Berry Jr. and daughter of the late Robert “Les” and Mary (Quinn) Cohane.

In addition to her husband of fifty-six years, she is survived by four sons, George III and his wife Rebecca of Beverly, Michael and Robin Scott of Salem, Timothy and his wife Janet of Danvers, and Niles and his wife Mary of Danvers. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Max, Megan, Susan, Patrick and Ryan, and one great-grandchild Reece.

She was also sister-in-law of Stanley Lojko of Salem, Paul Berry of Fernandina Beach, FL, and Joan Berry of Peabody. She was preceded in death by sister Mary Lojko and brother-in-law Edward “Gus” Berry.

She was a lifelong resident of the City of Salem and a 1944 graduate of Salem High. As a young woman, she worked for the gas and electric company in Salem for several years. After raising her family she continued her professional career, working for many years for the City of Salem, retiring as principal clerk in the recreation department. She was active in City employees' union affairs, as well as with the Democratic City Committee

A resident of the Salem Willows area for over seventy years, she was a member of the Juniper Community Club.

She and her husband honeymooned on Cape Cod and returned there for vacations through the years. She was a gaming enthusiast, whose many visits to Las Vegas with her husband were always highlight experiences.

An exceptional cook, she took pleasure in hostessing dinner parties at her home. She especially enjoyed cooking for her husband’s thirty-five Super Bowl parties (in appreciation, she was allowed to watch the game with “the Boys”).

Her love for her family was deep and constant. She was a very special person, who will always have a special place in the hearts of her family and friends.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Boulevard, Salem, Saturday at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited.   • Nancy McHugh, 56

    Windsor, VT — Nancy McHugh died Thursday May 16, 2013, in Windsor, Vt. She was born in Revere, Mass., a daughter of David R. and Barbara (Young) Bevan. She graduated from Danvers High School in 1974 and from Westfield State College in 1978, where she earned her teaching degree. On July 14, 1984, she was married to Joseph B. McHugh in Pepperell, Mass. They moved to Vermont in 1990 where Nancy worked as a substitute teacher for many years. She then worked in retail, most recently at BG’s Market until she became too ill to work. Nancy was an avid Boston sports fan who enjoyed watching the Patriots and Bruins but most of all the Red Sox. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, but more than anything enjoyed time with her family, especially her children and their friends. She was a member of the American Legion Post 25 Auxiliary as well as the Windsor B.P.O.Elks Lodge 1665. Nancy was predeceased by her father and is survived by her husband, Joe of Windsor, her mother, Barbara of Danvers, Mass., a daughter Sherrie McHugh of Windsor; two sons, Thomas D. McHugh and Joseph B. McHugh Jr., both of Windsor; two sisters, Denise Sarro and Dottie McBournie; and two brothers, David R. Bevan Jr. and Scott Bevan, all of Danvers, Mass., as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He resided in Beverly most of his life and attended local schools. Bill was employed at General Electric in Lynn as an inspector for 39 years. Bill served in the United States Coast Guard and was stationed at Hampton Beach and Plum Island.

Doll of Salem and her partner, Zbyszek Potyranski, Dr. Barbara M. Freund of California and her husband, Dr. Ronald, and Amie Kandalaft and her husband, Gary, of Weymouth. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Alexandra, Nikki and Antoine Kandalaft of Weymouth, Rob and Stephanie Freund of California, many nieces and nephews. She was the loving daughter of the late Sylvester and Anne (Coyne) Curran; sister of the late Al, John, Frank, Ed and Bob Curran, Marie McNulty, Anna Del Papa, and Dorothy McKenna. Barbara was a retired executive assistant to the president of Arbella Protection Insurance and the past president of Executive Women International. She was elected to Who’s Who of American Women and authored multiple management publications. A voracious reader, and world traveler, her glamorous style and generous personality will long be remembered.

    Salem — Salem firefighter, Donald R. “Muggsy” Larrabee, 80, husband for 58 years to Carol J. (Stever) Larrabee, died Wednesday morning, May 15, 2013, at Grosvenor Park Nursing Home in Salem. Son of the late Daniel and Beatrice (Lemay) Larrabee, he was born in Peabody and was raised and educated in Salem. Following his education, Mr. Larrabee was employed in the Leather Industry until he was appointed to the Salem Fire Department in 1968. He served the City of Salem as a firefighter for 25 years until his retirement.

Great-grandmother of Maya Romo and Charlotte Mullin. Dear sister of Marjorie O'Brien Moses, the late Mary Jane, Frank and Dennis Cronin, Ann Grinnell, Mary Therese Reynolds and James O'Brien. Frances graduated in 1943 from Beverly Hospital School of Nursing. She was a WWII Navy nurse who served at Bethesda and Chelsea Naval Hospitals and Ft. Eustis, Va. She married Richard in 1948 at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church and her greatest joy was being a devoted wife and gentle and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. For over 60 years, Frances was a member of the National Shrine of the Little Flower Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a volunteer with the Mt. Carmel Hospital and Icon Dei guilds and the Christ Child Society of Detroit, as well as the Mothers' Clubs of Shrine Grade and High schools and University of Detroit High School.

    Melrose, MA — Raoul C. “Ray” D’Amour passed away at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. He was 69 years of age. Ray was born in Beverly to the late Henry C. and Margaret M. (Moran) D’Amour, was raised in Beverly, graduated from Beverly High School in 1962 and from Northeastern University, Class of 1967. Mr. D’Amour started out working at the Raytheon Company while involved with the co-op program at N. U. and continued to work as a software engineer in the missile and technical division of the Raytheon Company for over 40 years. Ray had been a resident of Melrose for the past 40 years and was a longtime member of the Melrose Elks, the Malden Moose, the Reading Rifle & Revolver Club, Melrose Veteran’s Building Association and was an associate member of the VFW Harold O’Young Post #2394 in Melrose. He also had a large group of friends from the 621 in Malden. Mr. D’Amour was the son of the late Henry C. and Margaret M. (Moran) D’Amour; brother of Joan M. Hutchinson of Beverly and the late Marilyn A. Vitkauskas; he is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and friends.
