Evelyn (Koltow) Shapiro, 89


Danvers — Mrs. Evelyn (Koltow) Shapiro 89, of Danvers died at Kaplan Family Hospice on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. A native of Lynn, she attended Fisher Junior College.

She was a legal secretary in Boston before being married. She lived in Fitchburg and worked for the president of the Rotary. In 1947, she moved back to Boston and then worked for Attorney Morris Goldman, who did the account for the Boston Public Library at that time. In 1968, after raising her family, Mrs. Shapiro worked at the Beverly Trust Co. as secretary to then-bank president, William B. Fish. From 1970-1979, she was a secretary at Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute. After her retirement, she worked part time for James Farley, Esq., Plunkett & Plunkett Law Office, working in the real estate department and Hyman Marcus, Esq. until his death in 1985. Mrs. Shapiro was the wife of the late Morris Shapiro; mother of Tema Lee and her husband, Michael Moar, Barry and his wife, Sally Shapiro and Lois Dolansky; sister of Caroline Talewsky and the late Frank Koltow; grandmother of Karyn and Christopher MacDougall, Joel Dolansky and Anna Shapiro; and great-grandmother of Kensington MacDougall.

ARRANGEMENTS: Services at Sons of Jacob Cemetery, Cemetery Road (off Route 114), Danvers, on Sunday, January 20, at noon. Condolence calls will be private.
