Groton, Connecticut — Barbara C. Mroz, of Groton, formerly of Salem, Massachusetts, died on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at Regency Heights in Norwich with her family by her side.
She was born in Geneva, Illinois, the daughter of the late Fred and Emma (Anderson) Thompson.
She was the loving wife of Jozef Mlot Mroz. They were married on Jan. 11, 1970 in Townsend, Massachusetts and lived in Salem for many years before eventually moving to Groton, Connecticut to be closer to family.
Barbara worked for the Ninex telephone company (now Verizon) in Massachusetts as a teller; she retired after thirty years of service in July of 1988. She was a devoted parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church in Salem, Massachusetts and Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Gales Ferry, Connecticut for many years. She was also a proud member of the St. Joseph Society in Salem and the Telephone Pioneers in Boston.
She is survived by her nephews, Henryk and Helena Sieczkowski of Norwich, Stanislaw Wegrzyn of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Thaddeus Wegrzyn of Ontario, Canada; other nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; and a sister-in-law, Pat Thompson of Geneva, IL. She was predeceased by her husband, Jozef, in Oct. of 2002; two brothers, and three sisters.
Her family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses, direct care givers and all of the staff at Regency Heights for the excellent care they provided. Your kindness and compassion was greatly appreciated.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 28 St. Peter St., Salem, MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Woyasz & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
