Frances (Francesca) Dolan, formerly of 1 Looney Avenue, Salem, MA, died on 2/04/2012 at Thompson House Nursing Home in Brattleboro, VT; she had resided there for the past three-and-one-half years.
The daughter of the late Antonia and Giovanni Actis, Frances was born in Gonic, New Hampshire on October 4, 1916. On September 13, 1942 she married Charles A. Dolan of Salem, MA; he predeceased her on May 16, 1999 after 56 years of marriage.
Frances leaves her daughter Claire Markey and husband Frank of Brattleboro, VT and son Richard Dolan and wife Sandra of Searsport, Maine. She also leaves her brother Louigi Actis of Peabody, MA, brother-in-law Robert Dolan and wife Nancy of Amesbury, MA, and sister-in-laws Helen Actis and Alice Dolan, both of Peabody, MA. Frances is survived by her grandchildren Charla Spellman and husband Chris, Drew Markey and wife Sarah, Zachary Markey, Ross Dolan and Alec Dolan; and great-grandchildren Tyler, Christopher, Ashleigh and Caroline Spellman, and Sophia and Ava Markey. She leaves an extended family of nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, Frances was predeceased by her sister Lena Cares and brother Angelo Actis.
Frances grew up in the Cape Cod area, eventually settling with her family in Peabody, MA. Following her marriage she moved to Salem, MA, where she resided most of her adult life. During World War II, she was employed by various industrial plants in the Virginia area. For many years Frances was a bank teller at Salem Savings Bank.
