Nahant — Steven P. Hyde, age 59, of Nahant, died Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers, after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Gail C. (Zamejtis) Hyde, and the son of Claire (Oak) Hyde of Lynn, and the late Edwin Hyde.
Born and raised in Lynn, he has lived in Nahant the past twelve years. He was a member of the first graduating class of Lynn Vocational and Technical School, class of 1972. Steven was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the MBTA for thirty years until his retirement in 2006. Later, he worked for the Cambridge Department of Public Works. He was a member of PLAV Post #56, and the AMVETS Post #161. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, scuba diving and golf.
Besides his wife Gail and his mother Claire, Steven is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Hyde of Lynn; his son, Christopher Hyde and his fiancé, Erin Mulligan of Wayland; brothers and sisters, Cynthia Maleyzk of Lynn, Michael Hyde and his wife, Ilsa of Wheeling, Ill., Lawrence Hyde and his wife, Linda of Lynn, Anthony Hyde and his wife, Deborah of Lynn, Michelle LeGault and her husband, Daniel of Lynn, and Rosemary Rubbicco and her husband, Christopher of Sterling, Conn. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Clara Zamejtis of Lynn; brother-in-law, Edmund Zamejtis and his wife, Sheila of Nahant; a sister-in-law, Sally Zamejtis Brown of Lynn, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his loving dog, Max. He was the son-in-law of the late Joseph Zamejtis.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Solimine, Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Rt1A) on Saturday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Nahant, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
