Louise Lillian Keefe, 97


Beverly — Louise Lillian Keefe died peacefully in her sleep at Ledgewood Skilled Nursing Home in Beverly on Monday, November 26. She was 97.

Born into a French-speaking home in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, she was the last remaining sibling of 12 children born to Frederick and Georgina Boudreau. While visiting a sister in the States she met and later married David P. Keefe, a Lynn businessman. They moved to Marblehead and spent many decades living at “Hygate” on the Neck. They entertained frequently and traveled extensively throughout Europe, Canada and the Caribbean with their two children. He passed away in 1972.

Lillian’s favorite pastimes were reading, traveling, working in her rose garden and spending time with family. She was an excellent cook and hosted many large family celebrations. She was a longtime communicant of Star of the Sea Parish in Marblehead before moving to Beverly.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Emily Alexander of Brooklyn, N.Y., Julia Deveau of Gardner, Frances Trefry and Leona Boudreau of Lynn, Mable Theriault of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and brothers Oscar Boudreau of Halifax, Nova Scotia, John and Bernard Boudreau of Lynn, Frederick Boudreau of Brookfield, and Alfie and Clarence Boudreau of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

She is survived by her two children, son, David Keefe of Beverly and daughter, Georgina Keefe-Feldman and her husband, Neal Keefe-Feldman of Beverly; as well as a grandson, Michael Keefe-Feldman and his wife, Kathleen Diina Feldman of Beverly, and her great-grandson, Graham Keefe Feldman, as well as many loving nieces and nephews, especially Mark Deveau of Rockport, Betty Landry of Hebron, Nova Scotia, Fred Trefry of Temple Hills, Md., and Lillian Halley of Barefoot Bay, Fla.

The family is grateful to the staff of Ledgewood for their care and concern for Lillian over the past years.

ARRANGEMENTS: A wake of remembrance will be held on Friday, Nov. 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Campbell. Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 9 Dane St., Beverly. A funeral mass will be said in her name on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly. Burial will be private.
