Julie T. Mogel, 54

Altoona, Fla. — Julie, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday morning, November 30, 2012, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Salem on April 18, 1958, she was the daughter of Suzanne and Ernest Mogel. Raised in Danvers and Swampscott, she graduated Swampscott High school in 1976.

A talented artist, Julie was an avid fan of music and literature, especially science fiction. She loved being outdoors and became a dedicated Americorps volunteer, working to clean state parks and waterways. Julie cherished spending time with children and doting on her pets, as well as any animal she happened to meet. She maintained a childlike wonder throughout her life, which culminated in her moving to Florida to work at Disneyworld, where she delighted in showing her nephew the magic that she witnessed every day. She will be missed more than mere words could ever express.

In addition to her parents, she leaves behind her siblings, Duane Carpenter, Cassandra Bishop of Milton-Freewater, Ore., Bonnie Bishop of Altoona, Fla., Brian Mogel and his wife, Joanne Dorman of Mystic, Conn., Laurie Levine of Marblehead, and Melinda Mogel of Somerville; her nephew, Daniel Levine of Marblehead; and her much-loved bird, Pebbles; She was also the sister-in-law of the late Alan Levine.
