Beverly — Mrs. Viola May (Bowman) White, of Beverly, passed away at the Masconomet Health Care Center on Friday, December 7. She was 75. Born January 13, 1937, in Newburyport, she was the daughter of the late Nelly (Papas) Bowman and Arthur Bowman.
A graduate of Essex County Homemaking School in 1954 and the Beverly Hospital School of Nursing in 1957, Viola was a private duty nurse while her children were growing up. She was the wife of Richard F. White; they were married in 1957. Viola was active with the first Baptist Church of Beverly with the Woman’s Society and also with the youth groups. She taught at Harborlight Nursery School, was a Cub Scout den mother and active with the PTO at the Ryal Side Elementary School. She provided a home daycare for her grandchildren and daycare for the teachers at the Beverly School for the Deaf.
Viola is survived by her husband, Richard and three children, Paula (White) O’Kelly and her husband, James of Ipswich, Sandy (White) Currier and her husband, Bruce of Beverly and Bruce White and his wife, Linda of Rochester N.H.; her grandchildren, Conor and Kathleen O’Kelly, Brandon Williams, Garrett Williams, Valerie Williams and Zachary Currier, Tucker, Emma and Hudson White. Viola is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Walsh and her husband, Edward of Topsfield and Mary Reilly and her husband, Mick of Beverly along with many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held in the Campbell-Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly, on Thursday, December 13, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be private.
