BEVERLY — Loraine B. (Parsons) Munsell, 86, mother of Marcia (Munsell) Cleversey of Beverly and wife of the late James W. Munsell, passed away Tuesday, December 11, at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester. Born in Chicopee, she is the daughter of the late Arthur and Maria (Cliché) Parsons.
Loraine grew up in Aldenville and attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic School and Cathedral High School. She also attended and graduated from Bay Path College, having studied bookkeeping. Loraine worked as a bookkeeper for a few years before her marriage to Jim. She had a talent in music and passion for singing. Loraine sang professionally for the Don Curtis Quartet, the Nick DeNucci Trio and other bands. She shared her talent with her husband Jim, who played drums with both of these groups. They formed their own band (Nostalgia) in the 1970s and continued performing in local night clubs for many years. Loraine also enjoyed gardening and growing herbs. There was an herb sign in front of her house in Hampden for many years. She was known as the “herb lady” and locals loved to buy from her. Loraine had a deep love and respect for animals, especially for Siamese cats throughout her life. She had many beloved pets. Her family and friends have been truly blessed by her presence. Her love for music, nature and science fiction and strength of character are her legacy. She will be sorely missed, but will live forever in their hearts.
She is survived by her two children: Michael Munsell and his wife Nancy of Tucson, AZ, and Marcia Cleversey and her husband Philip of Beverly; one brother: Arthur Parsons Jr. of Agawam and two grandchildren: Jocelyn and Brian Cleversey both of Beverly.
