Peabody — Carmine John DeNisco, 84, of Peabody, died Tuesday evening surrounded by his loving family at Salem Hospital, following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Theresa (Bowers) DeNisco with whom he shared over 58 years of marriage.
Born in Revere, he was the son of the late Giovani and Emanuela (Panarese) DeNisco. He was raised in Revere, later lived in Lynn and has spent the last 55 years living in Peabody.
He graduated from DeVry High School and later received his associate’s degree in engineering from the University of Chicago.
After high school, John enlisted with the US Army served during WWII and was honorably discharged in June of 1948. Following his service with the army, John was employed as an engineer at General Electric Lab Electronics, Raytheon, GTE Sylvania and finally before his retirement, at Dynamic Research Corporation.
John worked on many projects throughout his career, but his most memorable was the lead engineer on the Lunar Module Project and the X 15 Guidance System that broke the sound barrier.
John was very active in the community and was a great athlete who had love of baseball and was drafted by the minor league Chicago Cubs baseball team. John loved football as well and was a past president of the Peabody Midget Football and Peabody little league baseball.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by five sons, John Michael and his wife Gail DeNisco, Paul DeNisco, Mark and his wife Marcela DeNisco, Robert and his wife Heidi DeNisco, and James and his wife Lorelei DeNisco, all of Peabody and by his daughter, Terri Sabelli and her husband Joe of Swampscott. He was predeceased by his brother, Alexander DeNisco of Revere and is survived by his children, John and Phyllis DeNisco, Jean and Paul Gallant and Al and Susan DeNisco, his sister, Concetta Grelish and her husband Mike Cremin of Orlando, FL and her children, Nancy and Jim Carlson, Tommy and Patty Grelish and Joe and Noreen Grelish, and by several other nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, Joseph and Cara DeNisco, Anthony Sabelli and his fiancé Erin Dunn, Chris and Talia Sabelli, Michelle and John DeNisco, Rebecca and Heather DeNisco, Tiffany, Bailey, Nicholas, Giana, Alex, and Ava DeNisco, Nicole DeNisco and her fiancé Josh Beaulieu, and Harold DeNisco. He was brother-in-law of the late Joseph Grelish and Josephine DeNisco.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 until 8 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., Peabody.
